Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia
December 6th to 7th, 2017 and December 13th to 14th, 2017

In cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, Bexel Consulting organized a four-day BIM training, held at the Faculty’s premises. Throughout the training, lecturers introduced the main concepts of BIM methodology together with the processes and technology behind it. Several BIM implementation goals and benefits were actively discussed, along with the planning process of BIM implementation. Examples of BIM processes, deliverables and workflows were demonstrated using the BEXEL Manager® BIM platform.

BEXEL’s team presented use-cases of BIM technologies and applications of BIM in practice, together with common problems. This was shown using examples of different projects where BIM was implemented, in different markets around the globe – hospitals, hotel resorts, sport complexes, commercial and residential complexes, metros etc. Having in mind that the audience consisted of infrastructure contractor representatives, the specifics of BIM usage in infrastructure projects were discussed in details with examples from real, both ongoing and finished, projects.

The end of the session was dedicated to topics related to the content and development process of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), including the BIM Model Development Strategy (volume strategy, LOD, LOI), BIM Uses planning, Clash detection strategy, BIM deliverables plan, meeting strategy, software strategy for each BIM Use, procedures and checklists.

Every participant was provided with 60-day-trial licenses of the BEXEL Manager® BIM platform, and was able to conduct BIM model analysis and develop BIM deliverables themselves, with the lecturers’ on-site support. As a follow up, BEXEL Manager® video tutorials are made available to participants for further research and education on BIM processes using the BEXEL Manager® BIM platform.
